Loss or theft became a real security threat.

When Apple introduced encryption of data, it spelt out the former leader’s doom unequivocally. Apple and iPhone’s image got a huge boost when FBI declared it was unsuccessful in cracking Apple’s encryption. Apple’s security was sufficient and iPhone become the new standard for all-mobile computing.
